The future of Ganesh, a differently abled student hangs in balance, owing to the apathy of the Central Board of Secondary Education. In what can be termed as an example of indifference, the Board has failed to grant him permission to take his Class X Board examination from home. With the last date to submit forms having lapsed on October 1, Ganesh is a worried person.
Ganesh, is 100 percent disabled since birth, and wanted to appear for his Class X examination as a private candidate. 8220;After facing rejection from more than 40 schools, I requested the CBSE to grant me permission to appear in the exam. I also wrote to the UT Administrator, General S F Rodrigues Retd on whose instructions, the UT Administration represented my case,8221; said Ganesh. He has, however, not received any reply from the Board yet.
8220;The last date for submission of forms is already over and I have received no intimation from the Board. If nothing concrete comes up, my one year will be wasted,8221; he rues.
He added that the Board is harassing him and repeated enquiries have generated the same response of 8216;looking into the matter8217; from officials. His problem, however, has not deterred the boy and he passed his Class V and Class VIII board examinations in the first division from the Punjab State Education Board.
8220;Books are my best friends. My favourite subject is English and I aspire to be an IAS officer,8221; he says.
