MUMBAI, Dec 13: Royal Caterers scraped past Naval Dockyard to earn their first win in the Mumbai District Football Association MDFA conducted Super League match at the St Xavier8217;s Ground, Parel, today.

The only goal of the match came mid-way through the second session. A fine pass to the centre by Lionel Bhandu saw defender Neil D8217;Costa jump high and score off a header.

It was the second consecutive loss for Naval Dockyard. In the 70th minute. Mario Caldeira and right-wing-back Patrick George worked with the ball in tandem to get it dangerously close to the Caterers8217; post. Finding himself surrounded by the defenders, Caldeira took the aerial route. But unfortunately for him the ball hit the horizontal bar and deflected out.

The win has earned Caterers three valuable points and have kept their hopes alive to top the league. The Dockyard front line which had been their best weapon in the qualifying rounds seems to lack the cutting edge.

In the earlier matches at the same venue, PD HInduja beat MMPKB 1-0 in a Division II play-off match. Rajesh Rane scored the match-winner.

BEST drew their Division I play-off with Vikhroli XI. Both the teams failed to score any goals.
