Canter driver convicted for rash driving

CHANDIGARH, Jan 19: Jarnail Singh, a Kharar resident, was today convicted for rash and negligent driving by UT Civil Judge Senior Division B.C. Gupta. He was released on probation after he furnished a probationary bond of Rs 5,000 and a surety of the undertaking to appear and receive sentence as and when called upon during the period of next year.

The accused was further burdened with Rs 450 as the cost of proceedings.Jarnail Singh was earlier arrested on April 24, 1994 under Sections 279, 337 and 338 of the IPC. The FIR was lodged on the complaint that the alleged accused was driving a canter in a rash manner in Sector 30 area and caused simple and grievous injuries to one Harbans Singh.
