Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Sunday called on his supporters to burn copies of American author James Laine8217;s controversial book on Chatrapati Shivaji. The Bombay High Court had recently quashed the Maharashtra government8217;s order banning the book.
The Sena has already taken an aggressive stand over the issue and decided to stop circulation of the book. In the statement front-paged in the party mouthpiece Saamna on Sunday, Thackeray has also called on party men, sympathisers and others to get involved in the campaign across party lines and present a picture of a unified Maharashtra.
8220;It was not necessary to get emotional on the issue but instead show an example of Marathi pride to the people who were defaming the national icon.8221;
