Taking on private cell players yet again, government telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited BSNL has reduced its cellular tariffs from 8 to 66 per cent depending on the distance and tariff plans.

The company has also slashed its short message service SMS charges from Re 1 to 60 paisa per message for all post-paid and pre-paid customers.

AirTel unveils new tariff

New Delhi: AirTel has announced the most simple tariff plan 8216;AirTel 0,1,28217; Plan, for subscribers choosing to go mobile. Realising the dilemma a consumer has to wade through while deciding on a tariff plan, this plan is intended for new entrants to the mobile community.

In addition to the proposition of free incoming calls, outgoing local calls to any GSM mobile for subscribers choosing this plan would cost only Re 1 per minute all-inclusive. STD calls, mobile-to-mobile anywhere in the country would cost a paise less than Rs 2 per minute all-inclusive, composite rate for a net monthly charge of Rs 299 only.

Mumbai: RELIANCE India mobile subscribers will be able to access results of ISCE and CBSE due this month on their mobiles. For the first time subscribers anywhere in India would be provided subjectwise results of classes 10 and 12 as and when the respective boards announce the results.

A mobile Internet application 8216;exam results8217; in its R-world suite of mobile applications has been added so that the user can get his results on entering the admit card number. ENS

The new rates are below what most private cellular operators are offering. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has also introduced a new tariff package called plan 525 with a monthly rental of Rs 525 per month with a special rate of 40 paisa per minute for outgoing cell-to-cell calls and Rs 1.20 including termination charges for cell to fixed/WLL calls. The company has also reduced the call rates under its existing two plans: 225 and 325.

Under Plan 225, cell-to-cell call would now cost Rs 2.20 while cell to fixed will be Rs 2.40 per minute. The cell to cell call under plan 325 will cost 1.40 per minute while cell to fixed/WLL call will cost Rs 1.80 per minute. For pre-paid customers, the outgoing cell-to-cell calls are priced at Rs 2.20 and cell to fixed/WLL are priced at 2.40 per minute. The pulse rate for all the calls has been fixed at 15 seconds.

As for NLD charges are concerned, BSNL would charge a flat rate of Rs 2.40 for all cell-to-cell STD calls irrespective of distance under Plan 225 and for pre-paid customers.
