BSF jawan killed in Srinagar grenade attack

A BSF jawan was killed and six others injured when militants exploded two grenades in Sopore township of Baramulla district on Sunday, official sources said.

A BSF jawan was killed and six others injured when militants exploded two grenades in Sopore township of Baramulla district on Sunday, official sources said. The mishap occurred in the first grenade explosion when ultras targeted the BSF post at the Sopore branch of the State Bank of India in the main town, 55 km from here, around noon, the sources said. The explosion caused splinter injuries to seven personnel. One of the jawans identified as constable J Raj Juneja of 133rd Battalion succumbed to injuries while being taken to hospital. The condition of three more injured personnel was stated to be serious. They have been referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment, the sources said. Three others were admitted to Baramulla sub-district hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
