The Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture MCCIA in association with Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India will hold a seminar on 8220;Software exports to Europe8221; on August 5. It will cover important topics including setting up an office overseas and important insights into business planning. Special emphasis will be laid on the marketing aspect and case studies will be presented. Sunil Jilla, Technology Promotion Ltd, London, Ramla Rahman, Sapan Parekh, Sudit K Parekh amp; Co will be the faculty for this seminar.

The chamber in association with Ministry of Industry, Government of India and ASSOCHAM has organised an interactive seminar on August 7 on 8220;India Patent Law: Approaches.8221; The focus will be on patentibility, compulsory licensing and enforcement.

In order to spread the word about WTO related issues, the MCCIA has organised a seminar on 8220;The Impact of WTO Agreements on Trade and Industry8221; o nAugust 9 in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce amp; Industry FICCI.

Joshi elected
S V Joshi, Managing Director, Nichrome India Ltd was elected chairman of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Pune Chapter. He takes over from Prakash Desai, managing director, Computervision Inc.. N G Dravid and Dr Bs Ks Chopra were elected as vice-chairman of the chapter.

Soman promoted
S S Soman has been promoted as the managing director of Kirloskar Airtech Limited KAL, a subsidiary of Kirloskar Pneumatic Limited. He was earlier the vice-president finance and company secretary of the company. KAL manufactures and sells a wide range of split air conditioners and window air conditioners.

Deepak Nitrite has continued to maintain its growth in the first quarter ending June 30,1999. During this period, the company sales rose to Rs 39.63 crore from Rs 37.94 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company recorded a 13 per cent growth in exports as compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
