Motorola unveiled the VE 66 phone, a new slider phone with a 5 megapixel camera, 2.2 inch screen and Motorola8217;s proprietary 8216;Crystal Talk8217; feature. Motorola claims that this new feature improves the voice clarity during calls especially conversations made in noisy environments. The phone will be available in two versions, one that supports UMTS/3G and the other only meant for GSM use in China. The phone runs on Montovista, a Linux OS and sports a 500MHz Freescale SCM-A11 processor. You can also record videos in QVGA with the 5MP camera. The phone8217;s interface can be navigated with the help of a 8216;FastScroll8217; touch-sensitive navigation wheel. The phone8217;s connectivity features include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. The phone is also integrated with news widgets. In terms of multimedia, the VE 66 has an MP3 player and FM Radio. The phone has an internal memory of 110MB and supports microSD cards. The VE 66 is expected to be launched by the end of the year.
HTC has augmented its line-up of cellphones in India again with today8217;s Mumbai launch of the HTC Touch Pro and the Touch Viva. Priced at Rs. 34,990, the HTC Touch Pro features a full QWERTY keypad that slides out from behind the screen. It uses the proprietary touch interface, TouchFLO 3D which was already featured in the HTC Touch Diamond. The phone also has a new customized web browser, which allows panning and zooming of pages. Like the Diamond, the YouTube application for playing videos is also present as well as Google Maps. The phone boasts of a 2.8 inch display and a TV-Out feature. The HTC Touch Viva is available for Rs. 16,490 and features HTC8217;s TouchFLO interface. It also has a 2.8 inch screen and a 2 megapixel camera. HTC has also tied up with Idea mobile service so that users can who opt for Idea as their service provider will get 1200 MB of free downloads.
