Bank of Baroda on Thursday scotched speculation that its brand ambassador, Rahul Dravid, was being replaced, saying it was 8216;happy8217; with him.
8220;Our association with Dravid has been quite successful and it has immensely benefited us in building-up a brand image in the industry. He Dravid is an excellent ambassador and a great personality,8221; BoB8217;s Executive Director V Santhana Raman said in Mumbai.
The bank8217;s clarification came amidst reports that BoB was looking at India8217;s one-day cricket captain M S Dhoni to replace Dravid as its brand ambassador.
The bank said Dravid had volunteered to continue as the ambassador of the bank till its centenary, which falls this year.
The bank would decide on whether to continue with the agreement after August 2008, when the contract with the former Indian cricket captain expires, Santhana Raman said.
The bank, however, has not thought about another cricket star or any other celebrity to replace 8216;The Wall8217;, BoB8217;s other Executive Director Satish C Gupta said.
8220;Reports in the media on this matter are totally speculative and unfounded. I8217;m surprised to see them,8221; he said.
The former captain of the Indian cricket team was appointed as BoB8217;s brand ambassador in May 2005.
