BJP MLA8217;s nephew held for theft

January 27: The V P Road police have arrested Rahul Sharma, the nephew of Bharatiya Janata Party BJP MLA Veena Sharma, for robbing cash worth more than Rs 63,000 from her V P Road residence on January 9.

Veena Sharma is the wife of BJP MLA Prem Kumar Sharma, who was killed by Chhota Shakeel gangster Feroz Konkani in 1994. She contested the 1995 Assembly elections and won. Rahul 24 is the son of Sharma8217;s younger brother Balkrishna.

On January 5, Veena Sharma had gone out of town with her family. When she returned the next day, she found the lock of her grill were broken, her house was ransacked, and doors of her cupboard were ajar. She found cash worth over Rs 63,000 missing and lodged a complaint with V P Road police.Senior inspector of V P Road police station Suresh Jadhav formed a special squad to detect the robbery. Police have recovered Rs 57,000 from Rahul. In another incident, L T Marg police arrested three persons for stealing a diamond-studded Fred watch from Amitabh Bachchan8217;s bungalow.
