The BJP8217;s Central Parliamentary Board is likely to meet here tomorrow to give the go-ahead to its Uttar Pradesh unit for the formation of a coalition government under the leadership of Bahujan Samaj Party vice-president Mayawati.

Mayawati is likely to assume office by Monday. Sources said Mayawati, accompanied by BJP leaders, RLD and other coalition partners, may call on Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri on Sunday to stake her claim. The common minimum programme, patterned on the NDA, is likely to focus on justice for all religious groups, a fair and transparent administration and a promise to accelerate development. While The RLD continues to voice its demand for the creation of Harit Pradesh, there will be no commitment on the issue.

Though Mayawati had conceded the BJP8217;s demand for the creation of a co-ordination committee, she favoured a very small body to ensure a role for only the principal partners. The BJP, on the other hand, was keen on the induction of all parties, or at least the RLD, into the body.
