NEW DELHI, MARCH 9: The BJP-led Government will be a year old in power on March 19, and to celebrate this occasion, the Government has decided to go in for some naach-gaana among other events.

According to Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan8217;s grand scheme, a star-studded programme will be held at Hauz Khas Village, the Capital8217;s original repository of ethnic chic. Thirty stages have been designed by Bollywood8217;s top set director Bijon Dasgupta, with heroines like Rani Mukherjee roped in by producer and friend of Shatrughan Sinha, Pahlaj Nihalani, and supported by diamond king and producer of Dil Se, Bharatbhai Shah.

Super-secret meetings have been held at Mahajan8217;s home to chalk out the plan for the event. Iamp;B Secretary Piyush Mankad was given the task to check out the facilities at the Village, which is home to the ladies who lunch. The city administration is also being roped in to make the area viable for an event of mega-magnitude.

This will follow a day amp; night cricketmatch on March 18 between Kapil Dev8217;s XI and Sunil Gavaskar8217;s XI, involving the 19 probables chosen for the cricket World Cup. Again, Iamp;B officials spent some part of Monday inspecting the Ferozeshah Kotla stadium, from where the match will be relayed live to launch Doordarshan8217;s satellite sports channel.

Apart from that, the DD current affairs section has been given the task of preparing a half-hour film extolling the virtues of the Government. This too will be telecast on March 19. The Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity is also holding a series of brain-storming sessions to throw up quot;conceptsquot; that will embody this Government8217;s quot;successquot;.
