BHOPAL, OCT 27: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the second successive day today without transacting any business following the opposition BJP8217;s insistence that a criminal case be registered against former Khandwa Superintendent of Police R C Patel and 11 others for 8220;mercilessly8221; beating up party legislator Kunwar Vijay Shah on Septembner 27.

On Tuesday, the house was adjourned on four occasions8211;three times in the pre-lunch period and after lunch8211; but today the speaker Sriniwas Tiwari adjourned the house within minutes after the sitting began.

The speaker said the leader of the house and the leader of opposition should come to his chamber at 11 am to find out ways and means to come out of the present deadlock but this was not accepted by the BJP.

Leader of Opposition Dr G S Shejwar said his party could not allow any proceeding to take place in the house unless legislators were given guarantee for their security.

Shejwar said on an earlier occasion, the privileges committee hadrecommended censure of Sudarshan Kumar, an IPS officer, but this was not done and instead he had been promoted.

When the speaker asked Shejwar if the BJP would allow the house proceedings to take place, he replied 8220;you should not talk to me but to the house8221;.

Following this, the speaker adjourned the house for the day without transacting any business.

Shejwar later told reporters that the BJP would continue stalling proceedings of the Assembly till the former Khandwa SP was suspended and a criminal case registered against him.

Party demands State govt8217;s dismissal

BHOPAL: The MP unit of the BJP today demanded the immediate dismissal of the Congress government headed by Digvijay Singh alleging that there was a 8220;constitutional breakdown8221; in the state.

The BJP legislative party executive committee meeting on Wednesday decided to step up their agitation in the house and submit a memorandum to the governor Dr Bhai Mahavir on Friday, the party chief whip Brijmohan Agrawal told newsmenhere.

He alleged that the Chief Minister had lowered the importance of the state Assembly, Lokayukta establishment and the State Human Rights Commission by not following their directives besides targeting opposition MLAs by implicating them in false cases.
