
NEW DELHI, JUNE 19: The BJP today advised West Bengal Home Minister Buddhadeb Dasgupta to 8220;mind his language8221; and demanded that he should withdraw his words that the Centre would face the consequences if it dismissed the WB government.
8220;West Bengal should realise that it is not an island but part of the country. By refusing to cooperate with the Central team, the state government has not only challenged the authority of the Central Government but dared the Centre to impose Article 356,8221; BJP vice president K L Sharma said today. BJP leader K Jana Krishnamurthy described the WB Government as 8220;petty-minded8221;.
Krishnamurthy said it was the overall responsibility of the Central Government to see that every state functioned in the manner set out by the Constitution. The Centre had only sent the team to ascertain the actual position and normal political and constitutional courtesy required the state government to extend its cooperation to the team, he said.
Meanwhile, the Central team today concludedits visit to the state after making an on-the-spot study of law and order. Additional secretary P D Shenoy, who led the team told newsmen that it would submit its report within a time-frame after compiling the data acquired.
