
Union Bank donates Rs 1 cr to NDF
AT Pannir Selvam, chairman & managing director, Union Bank of India, today handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the Prime Minister for the National Defence Fund(NDF).
The bank has always espoused the cause of upholding national interest and this token contribution is towards the welfare of the officers and jawans of the Indian armed forces who defended the country against the intrusion in Kargil.
Supreme Petrochem earns Rs 470 lakh net profit
MUMBAI: Supreme Petrochem Ltd (SPL), the largest producer of Polystyrene in the country, has announced results for the first quarter of 1999-2000. In the first quarter of 1999-2000 SPL has earned net profit of Rs 470 lakh on a turnover of Rs 110.23 crore as against a profit of Rs 60 lakh on a turnover of Rs 87.65 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year. In the year 1998-99 SPL turned the corner by earning net profit of Rs 1237 lakh on a turnover of Rs 387.32 crore.
