Bestfoods buys Captain CookMUMBAI: International Bestfoods Ltd, subsidiary of Bestfoods, on Friday announced acquisition of Captain Cook salt from DCW Home Products Ltd. International Bestfoods chairman and managing director Salil Punoose said that Bestfoods has completed the agreement with DCW Home Products to acquire from them the tangible and intangible assets of Captain Cook salt business, including the trademark Captain Cook and salt manufacturing factory. The statement did not mention anything about the price. Bestfoods owns brands like Knorr, Glucovita, Brown & Polson and Rex.Centre privately places Rs 5,000 cr MUMBAI: The Centre on Friday privately placed Rs 5,000 crore with the central bank through two long-term papers of 11-year and 12-year maturities. With this, the government has exceeded its budgetary gross borrowing target of Rs 79,376 crore by Rs 11,374 crore to Rs 90,750 crore. The Centre privately placed a Rs 3,000-crore 11-year paper maturing in 2010 at 12.29 percent. The Rs 2000-crore 12-year paper maturing in 2011 carried a 12.32 per cent coupon. The yield fixed for the 12-year paper is marginally higher than the similar maturity paper issued last year offering a coupon of 12.25 per cent.Reliance takes over Gujarat Gas unitMUMBAI: Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Ltd has informed that it has entered into an arrangement with Gujarat Gas Company whereby the business relating to the LPG division of Gujarat Gas consisting inter alia, of the bottling plants at Sanand and Lodhika is proposed to be transferred by Gujarat Gas to Reliance. The proposed transfer of the LPG division will be as a going concern.
