Bhattal appeals Sonia to withdraw resignation

She referred to the changing fortunes of the Congress under the leadership of Sonia in the last Assembly elections in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. However, the issue of her foreign origin was never raked up at that time by any body, including the Bharatiya Janata Party. Certain sections had now been rattled by her increasing popularity and hence the campaign against her.

Bhattal said Sonia was daughter-in-law of the country and part of the Nehru dynasty and as such, her leadership was the need of the hour.

The Punjab Youth Congress will burn the effigies of Sharad Pawar, P A Sangma and Tariq Anwar here on Friday to protest their letter which has caused tremors in the party. The Youth Congress chief alleged these three leaders were in league with the BJP.

PPCC general secretary Jagmohan Singh Kang appealed to Sonia to withdraw her resignation in the larger interest of the Congress.

PPCC legal cell chairman S S Shergill strongly criticised Pawar and others and said their effort was to harm the party.
