Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd BTVL has introduced a mobile-based credit system as part of a tie-up with ICICI Bank and Visa.
mCheque is the first-of-its-kind mobile based purchase and payment system in India, that uses SIM cards to buy and sell in 100 retail outlets in Delhi, Mumbai and the NCR.
Airtel has already introduced a new card that can replace existing SIM cards free of cost, while ICICI bank credit card customers will be issued add-on cards. 8216;8216;This turns a mobile phone into a moving wallet,8217;8217; said Akhil Gupta, joint MD, Bharti Televentures.
The service is to be activated on the basis of a text message exchanged by designated retail outlets and Airtel customers who have switched to the new system.
