Manvendra Singh, Barmer: Its a revolting thing that a non-Indian will hold such a high office. I am glad that the decision is likely to be reverted and we will have another candidate as Prime Minister. In fact I had even bought a traditional black headgear that people wear when they are in mourning and I was all set to use it.

Neeta Pateria, Seoni: Our party has always said that we are opposed to a Prime Minister of foreign origin and we will continue to oppose it. And this is not an election issue but on of national interest. People have accepted everyone else but not her and none of her present allies went to the people with Sonia as the Prime Ministerial candidate.

Laxman Singh, Rajgarh: I am sure that Sonia Gandhi has realised that she was not capable of holding the job and I am glad that she has stepped back. As far as attending the swearing in ceremony I leave that decision to the party.

Ganesh Singh, Satna: It is true that in this election no single party has been given the clear mandate but neither can the Congress claim a majority. The fact that Sonia has withdrawn her candidature is definitely a victory for us.

K.M. Moghe, Khargond: We have said repeatedly that we don’t want a Prime Minister of foreign origin. Now that the decision is being changed then I have no problem in attending the swearing in ceremony.
