
September 28: Otters Club players dominated the 4th Kingfisher Diet Squash Championships which concluded at the CCI courts today with Akhil Behl (Invitation Classic), Abhijit Kukreja (u-16) and Karanpal Sethi (u-12) reigning supreme in their respective categories.
Behl was stretched to four sets by compatriot, Paul Fereirra in the Invitation Classic final. Behl took the first set 9-6 only to lose the next 4-9. But he came back strongly to win the next two sets and the match, convincingly. The final scores read 9-6, 4-9, 9-3, 9-2 in favour of Behl.
Ritwik Bhattacharya faced no hiccups as he went on to beat Awish Jaiswal in straight sets– 9-3, 9-4, 9-2 — to win the Boys under-19 title.
The women’s (Queens) final saw a tough fight between Aisha Shah and Karisma Juneja as the match stretched to a five setter. Aisha seemed poised for a straight sets victory after winning the first two sets easily. However Karisma found her rhythm as she went on to win the third and fourth sets. But Aisha prevailed over her rival to win the final set 9-3and the match.

Ritwik Bhattacharya has been given top billing in the boys event of the WMI-Cranes Little Masters Under-19 Squash Tournament which gets underway at the Willingdon Club, Mahalaxmi, tomorrow.
Bhattacharya is followed by Girish Lakhani and Awish Jaiswal.
