BCCI announces hike for selectors

Following a rift between the chief selector and the board over compensation, BCCI announced a hike in selectors' allowances.

Following the rift between chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar and Cricket Board over compensation, BCCI announced a hike in the allowances of selectors on Friday.

BCCI Finance Committee which met on Friday decided to hike the allowances of board members and selectors.

Board secretary Niranjan Shah announced the hike of dearness allowance from Rs. 5000 to 10,000 and the traveling allowance from Rs. 7000 to 10,000.

After the selectors were banned from writing syndicated columns in newspapers, Vengsarkar had asked for a hefty compensation from the board.

The tussle reached a flsahpoint when Vengsarkar offered to resign but BCCI Chief Sharad Pawar calmed the nerves promising that proper compensation will be given to the selectors.

Meanwhile the proposed meeting between Vengsarkar and Pawar during the inauguration of a indoor cricket stadium at Bandra could not take place.

Though both were present in the function but could not spare time from the meeting.

The meeting is likely to take place on Saturday, sources close to Vengsarkar said.
