PANCHKULA, June 7: The bail application of the Branch Manager of a Lucknow-based finance company was rejected by Ved Pal Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Panchkula. The order was passed on the June 5 after an FIR was lodged by Ajay Kumar Godara, a resident of Panchkula.

In his complaint, Godara alleged that B. M. Suri, the Branch Manager of INCAN Mutual Benefit Ltd. Para Banking, Chandigarh, had collected Rs 9,000 for savings account and Rs 7,500 for the recurring monthly deposit on the assurance of their security and safe return on maturity or on demand. The complainant said he had been refused payment since February 1999, and although he repeatedly went to the office to take the money, the amount was not paid to him. Many other depositors have lodged similar complaints against Suri, saying that he had not returned their money.

The order passed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, said that keeping in view the serious allegations of criminal breach of trust against the accused and the fact that co-accused are yet to be arrested, the bail application of the accused is rejected. Pending completion of investigations, Suri was remanded to judicial custody till June 19.
