IIM-L students play for charity at city club and enthused byaudience response, are ready to take up more assignments

The official band of the IndianInstitute of Management Lucknow, three.four, played in anoff-campus show at GenesisClub and it was not for some contest but for charity. While the IIM students hadearlier played on campus or only duringsome B-school competitions, it was the first time they got the chance to perform infront of an audience that did not evenknow them well.Interestingly, enthusiasticresponse of the audience hasnow encouraged the band totake up more such assignments, when they are not busywith books. 8220;It gave us good exposureas it was a mixed crowdof the elderly and young. We played film songs, hard rock aswell as some of our originalnumbers. We did not get muchtime to prepare since our examsare round the corner. Butthe response of the audiencehas certainly encouraged us totake up more such assignments, wheneverwe are free from studies,8221; said AbhijitArora, a member of the band.He added, 8220;Our first show was forcharity and we did not aim at makingmoney out of it even in future. Like otherIIM students have their own hobbies, it isour passion and hobby to pursue in sparetime.8221; On the other hand, the organiserswere also happy with the response theband got. 8220;They were good and even ourmembers gave a good response. We willbe using the amount that we have gotfrom the show for the upliftment of theslum children in the city. We will be givingit to an organisation working for thecause,8221; said Wg Cdr AN Rai Retd, vicepresident, operations at Genesis Club.
