Avoiding being singed

Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi had sent invitation cards to four young Congress MPs8212;Rahul Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot and Jitin Prasada8212;to run with the Olympic torch, notwithstanding the fact that Rahul recently chose to feign ignorance about it after it continued to rake up controversy points. The cards were sent weeks ago when there was not much heat surrounding the torch, said a Congress MP. None of the four invitees was willing any longer to court a controversy by participating in the event. It was particularly tricky for Rahul who has been invited by the Chinese Communist Party to inaugurate a conference to mark the anniversary of the late Rajiv Gandhi8217;s visit to China.
