MUMBAI: The Arvind Mills Ltd today reported a sharp drop in net profit for the first half of 1998-99 to Rs 15.28 crore compared to Rs 60.28 crore in the corresponding period of previous year. Its operating margins dropped from 21 per cent in first half of 1997-98 to 11.9 per cent during the same period in the current year. However, sales was higher at Rs 464.20 crore against Rs 424.78 crore last year. Exports were up by 12 per cent to Rs 201.59 crore, the company said in a release.
