VADODARA, June 9: The district collector has registered a case under the Prevention of Black Marketing PBM Act against two managers of the Jalaram petrol pump located on national highway No 8 in Vadodara taluka near here for selling adulterated petrol and diesel and ordered their arrest. Both the accused are, however, reported to be absconding.
The order signed by the District Collector Anil Mukim says that the accused, namely Kalyan Raolji and Deepak Brahmbhatt, residents of Baroli village and Parvati Nagar, J P Road, Vadodara, respectively, be sent to Junagadh and Bhavnagar jails, immediately after their arrest.
However, according to an official spokesman, since the accused were absconding, their property would be attached and subsequently auctioned if they failed to present themselves before the district supply office within a stipulated time-frame as per the law.
The order follows a surprise inspection of the petrol pump about six months ago when various grave irregularities were detected in the accounts of stocks and sales there. The pump was subsequently sealed and fuel worth about Rs 2.9 lakh was seized. Further investigations revealed adulteration and established the charge that kerosene was used in diesel while the adulteration in petrol could not be ruled out.
