Arjun sets up panel to watch over SSA

HRD Minister Arjun Singh has set up yet another mammoth panel 8212; a 38-member Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan monitoring committee 8212; to keep an eye on how the crores released by the Centre to states for ensuring that every child goes to school is utilised. It was a decision which Singh himself had been avoiding due to fears that states would resent it as an intrusion. But a recent letter from the PM, asking him to set up such a committee, solved his problems. The committee has been carefully constructed, with few big names thrown in like that of Sudha Moorthy, who looks after Infosys-run education projects.
