KHARAR, April 19: The arhtiyas of Grain Market would close their establishments for an indefinite period, if Markfed failed to lift the unpurchased bags lying here and make the payment to commission agents by April 21. An ultimatum to this effect was served on Markfed by the Kharar Arhtiya Association.

In a memorandum, sent to manager, Markfed, the association said the organisation had so far purchased 30,000 bags of wheat from the local grain market and 25,000 bags were lying unlifted following which the farmers were facing hardships as there was no vacant place in the marketyard to dump their produce.

The letter, which has been signed by over ten leading commission agents, said the association of commission agents would not be responsible for any type of damage to the purchased wheat bags which were lying unutilised.

Probe demanded
The Kharar Block Samiti Tenants8217; Union today sought a probe into the alleged malpractices adopted during the recent auction of samiti property at Kharar.
