Archers shine at Asian meet

Mangal Singh Champai and Dola Banerjee secured second and fourth spots in men8217;s and women8217;s recurve sections respectively after the qualification round of 15th Asian Archery Championships in Xian, China, today.

Mangal shot 673 points in two rounds in 70mt for his second place, while Jayanta Talukdar and Rahul Banerjee gathered 658 and 656 points respectively to finish 13th and 14th. In women8217;s individual recurve, Dola8217;s 656 brought her the 4th spot, Punya Prabha 642 and L Bombyala Devi 639 got 11th and 13th respectively, an Archery Association of India statement said.

Jhanu Hasda 660 was fourth in compound, while Isai Rajendra Sanam finished eighth. In team events, India did well to be second in compound women, third in recurve men and fourth in recurve women and compound men categories.
