KOLHAPUR, MAY 3: A police constable was seriously injured after being shot at allegedly by an Assistant Police Inspector over relationship with a woman constable, in Juni More colony here late Tuesday night.
District Police Chief R K Padmanabhan told newsmen today that Parashram Sitaram Shinde was seriously injured when API Damodar Gaikwad shot at him with his service revolver from close range outside the residence of a woman constable Ujjawala Zende.
Shinde was rushed to Chatrapati Pramilaraje Civil Hospital and operated upon to take out the bullet which had pierced his chest, he said adding that both Ujjawala and Gaikwad have been taken into custody for interrogation.
In his statement recorded at the hospital, Shinde said he had a relationship with Ujjawala when he was attached to Panahala police station. However, when she was transferred to Aajara, she established a relationship allegedly with API Gaikwad.
Shinde alleged that Gaikwad was jealous of him and attempted to kill him.
