PUNE, Nov 22: Maharashtra’s cup of woes overflowed as they failed to clinch the second runners-up position losing to Andhra Pradesh, in the 23rd Senior National Women’s Cricket Championship at the Jail Ground here today.
Maharashtra skipper, Kalyani Umrani, won the toss and opted to bat. Yet again her side put on a miserable performance for what followed was not different to their previous day performance in the semi-final yesterday.
The side did not last the stipulated 45 overs and were bundled out for a paltry 73. The highest individual score came off the bat of skipper Kalyani Umrani, with Rucha Shinde (14), Amruta Shinde (14) and Chandarani Kamble (12) all bunched together with near identical scores.
Kishan Mamta scalped three wickets while S Monica chipped in with two. Andhra Pradesh wiped out the target in the 28th over losing just four wickets in the process. Mithali Raj lead the way with a quick knock of 29, and R Sabita and Harsha H adding 11 runs each to the tally.
