PUNE, Jan 19: Maharashtra Superstitions Eradication Committee (SEC) has obtained video clips showing the so-called powers of Anuradha mauli alias Anuradha Deshmukh, a god-woman from Solapur district to create ash out of thin air, was just another sleigh of the hand, SEC working president Dr Narendra Dabholkar said.
He exhibited the video recording showing Deshmukh performing her miracle’ at a press conference here this afternoon. He said some shots in the video clipping showed small ash stones were concealed in her palms before she demonstrated the miracle’.
The recording was done during a pooja by Deshmukh at the residence of one of her disciples in Latur district. The cameraman noticed the trick and concentrated on it, Dabholkar said.
The SEC has made copies of the recording highlighting the trick. This clipping would be telecast through cable networks across the State, he added.
The film clip shows Deshmukh reclaiming three ash stones concealed in her saree, seconds before performing the miracle’ while being possessed.’ Those present fail to notice the left-handed trick, said Dabholkar. Vibhuti — holy ash — residue on her left hand can be seen in the clip while she produces’ the ash from her right hand. This proves she is a fraud, Dabholkar said.
The SEC has been challenging Deshmukh for over a decade. She has never accepted the challenge to prove her miracle under controlled conditions to a group of examiners accepted bilaterally.
The committee was exposing her for the third time, Dabholkar said. Interestingly, the earlier video clip too had come from Latur. The SEC activists later had challenged Deshmukh at her native Masale-Chaudhari village in Solapur district. She refused to under go a through checking before the miracle’, he added.
