PUNE, SEPT 20: Another life lost and a hero born. The body of 25-year-old sepoy Jaganath Changdeo Jadhav of the 26 Maratha Light Infantry (MLI) who was killed in action in Operation Meghdoot at the Siachen Glacier on September 17, arrived at the Lohegaon airport this evening.

Hailing from Singhavi taluka, Ahmednagar, Jadhav was injured in enemy shelling in the area. He was hit by splinters and succumbed to his injuries in the evening. His mortal remains were escorted by sepoy Kishore Thorat to his village where he will be given a military funeral by the men of the Armoured Corps Centre on Tuesday.

The body was received at the airport by men and officers of the Pune sub area and reverse arms presented by the men of the Signal regiment, Southern Command. Wreaths were also laid on behalf of the the Colonel of the Regement, Maratha Light Infantry and the Pune Sub area along with representatives of District Sanik Welfare Board. Jadhav is survived by his parents and his wife, Savita.
