The Anti Narcotics Cell ANC of the Mumbai Police is leaving no stone unturned in securing conviction of the drug peddlers who supplied contraband at the rave party busted in Juhu. The ANC has approached Chief Public Prosecutor R V Kini requesting him to appear as special prosecutor in the case.

A team of ANC sleuths had on the night of October 5 raided a pub in Juhu and detained 239 youths for participating in an alleged rave party. Nine of the detained were later arrested on charges of possession, sale and consumption of narcotics. The police had seized as many as 104 tablets of Ecstasy, 850 drops of LSD and charas worth around Rs 9.6 lakh. Deputy Commissioner of Police ANC Vishwas Nangre Patil wrote a letter to Kini on Tuesday requesting him to appear in the case.

When contacted, Patil said, 8220;It8217;s a case which is both sensational and complicated. Therefore, we have asked a senior public prosecutor to handle the matter.8221; He also said, 8220;Since we prefer a smooth trial, we want a senior prosecutor to appear in the case.8221;

Other than the nine accused, which includes a woman too, all the detained are out on personal bond till reports of the chemical analysis tests carried out after their detention is received by the police. If the tests show positive results, they would also be taken into custody and booked under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances NDPS Act.

Prosecutor Kini said, 8220;I will be taking up the responsibility of conducting the trial and hopefully we shall secure a conviction of the guilty.8221;

The next hearing in the case is on November 6. The court will hear bail applications of two accused and cancellation of bail of seven others on the same day.
