World number one Viswanathan Anand resumes his campaign in the World Chess Championship after the rest day as joint leader with defending champion Vladimir Kramnik of Russia on 2.5 points.
He will face another Russian, Peter Svidler after the break and will be expected to go all out to prevail with white pieces as he attempts to reclaim the title he won in 2000.
Anand secured a fantastic victory with black, but also missed an opportunity and had to be content with a couple of sedate draws in the first four rounds of the competition.
Four players8212;Levon Aronian of Armenia, Russians Alexander Morozevich and Alexander Grischuk and Israeli Boris Gelfand8212; share third spot on 2 points apiece.
Svidler and Peter Leko of Hungary are currently at the bottom of the tables on 1.5 points each. Still 10 rounds remain in the premier event.
Anand had a good start which could have been excellent had he won from a much better position against Morozevich in the previous round.
After starting out with a draw against Gelfand, Anand had tormented Aronian and then drew a difficult endgame against Kramnik.
The Indian could have been in sole lead and so could be Kramnik, who also misplayed a promising position against Grischuk in the fourth round.
