With the BJP leadership reluctant to bring the firebrand sadhvi back into the fold, Bharatiya Janashakti Party president Uma Bharti has had to start scouting for new allies. Last Wednesday she called on Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. “I named my party Bharatiya Janashakti, while your’s is the Lok Janashakti Party. We can together empower the people,” Bharti is learnt to have reasoned with Paswan. The LJP leader, however, reminded her that her Hindutva ideology was an issue. Bharti assured him he need not worry on this front as she was going in for an image makeover on “secular issues”. An unconvinced LJP leader told her that he would consider her offer after her change of heart.
