ROOPNAGAR, SEPT 7: Over seven lakh votes were polled on September 5, with Amloh Assembly segment recording highest poll percentage at 61.13.

According to Deputy Commissioner-cum-Returning Officer Kulbir Singh Sidhu, Amloh topped with 92,547 votes having been polled of the total 7,14,503. This was followed by Kharar, where 87,892 votes were polled. While Nabha recorded 85,686 votes, a total of 79,170 votes were polled in Morinda Assembly segment. In Sirhind, 79,009 voters exercised their franchise, while 77,079 votes were polled in Dhuri segment.

While in Khanna, 75,592 votes were polled, Samrala segment recorded only 68,876 votes. In Chamkaur Sahib, least number of votes were polled with only 68,652 voters exercising their franchise.

Meanwhile, the authorities have released a list of places where counting will take place on October 6. These are ITI in Samrala, Khanna Senior Secondary School, Government College in Roopnagar city, Government Polytechnic College, Khuni Majra in Kharar, Shivalik Public School in Mohali, ITI for Girls in Nabha, Indoor Stadium in Mandi Gobindgarh, ITI Building in Bassi Pathanan and Arya College for Women, Dhuri.

ADC warns absentee officers
Additional Deputy Commissioner Khushi Ram today warned the officers, who remained absent from the weekly sangat darshan, of action if they continued to do so. Taking a serious note of their absence from today’s meeting, Khushi Ram said he would write to their departmental heads for necessary action.

In an official release, Khushi Ram warned the officers against abstaining from such meetings, which aimed at redressing public grievances. Later, the ADC directed the PWD officer to pay special attention towards removing encroachments from near the highways.
