Allahabad University to compensate victim146;s family

The Allahabad University has announced to give Rs three lakh as compensation to the family of the Pankaj Pandey who was beaten to death by some students inside the university campus on Saturday.

Pandey, a BA second year student and resident of Hindu Hostel, was standing near the Department of Fine Arts when youths, allegedly belonging to the university, attacked him. He later succumbed to his injuries that evoked students8217; clashes with police and hospital staff.

On Monday, Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajen Harse said that Rs 1.5 lakh would be given from his discretionary fund while the remaining amount would be given from the university fund.

The police, meanwhile, arrested two students

Prabhakar Sahu and Servesh Tripathi in connection with the murder and sent them to Naini jail. Prabhakar is first year student of Fine Arts.

Circle Offcier Ghyanshyam Chaurasia said two of the four accused were at large.
