Rashtriya Lok Dal president Ajit Singh broke his silence on joining the UPA Government at the Centre but said little one way or the other.
On a day8217;s visit to the state capital where he attended the RLD legislature party meeting and met Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Singh told reporters there has been endless speculation but said he had not yet made a decision. 8216;8216;Lekin abhi koi nateeja mat nikaliyega as of now, don8217;t jump to conclusions,8217;8217; he said, adding anything could happen in politics.
However, when asked if he had kept the options of joining the UPA open, the RLD chief said such speculation was baseless. Singh said he was not in touch with Congress leaders; the last time he met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi was before Lok Sabha elections.
While he did not rule out improving relations with the Congress, for the time being, the RLD does not want to spoil its ties with the Samajwadi Party. Singh has decided to contest the Vidhan Parishad and Rajya Sabha elections with Mulayam. He said he had met the Chief Minister over fixing the sugarcane support price and payment of arrears. He has also written to Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on the matter.
