Mahesh Bhupathi was not recommended for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2006, the year he won his third successive mixed doubles Grand Slam at the Australian Open after success at the 2005 Wimbledon and US Open championships, but this year, the All India Tennis Association has recommended him for the prestigious award, according to a press release issued today.

Rohan Bopanna and wheelchair tennis player Boniface Prabhu8217;s names have been put forward for the Arjuna Award.

Former Davis Cupper Akhtar Ali has been recommended for the Drona-charya Award.
