AISSF dist chief held for quot;car theftquot;

Dilraj is the son of Udham Singh, manager of Takht Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib. According to police sources, the police party headed by Sector 26 SHO Kultar Singh and sub-inspector Rajesh Shukla got suspicious when they noticed two Maruti cars bearing identical registration number PB-11-K-840, parked near the Sector 26 Hotel President.

The police found that documents of one of the cars driven by Dilraj Singh were forged. Also, on the left top of the front glass was etched car8217;s actual registration number PB-23-A-4294. He has been arrested under Section 411, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 473 of Indian Penal Code.

It was discovered that the car had been stolen from Panjoli on December 20.

The police sources said further investigations were on and a police party had gone to Fatehgarh Sahib to raid the premises of Dilraj. Dilraj is a third-year student of Fatehgarh Sahib Engineering College. Rattan Singh8217;s grandson Amandeep Singh also studies in the same college.

According to sources, police were also trying to find out if there was any conspiracy behind the entire episode. According to sources, Rattan Singh is a close aide of a senior Punjab Akali leader and his car has free access to the Punjab chief minister8217;s residence.
