
The AIADMK has named two former MPs T.T.V. Dinakaran and K. Malaichamy among its four candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
The other two are the party8217;s Namakkal District secretary S. Anbazhagan and Ammapettai Union Secretary N.R. Govindarajar. The names were announced after a meeting of the party8217;s Parliamentary Board today at AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa8217;s residence.
Thus Jayalalithaa has rewarded three partymen who had lost the recent Lok Sabha elections, Dinakaran at Periyakulam, Anbazhagan at Rasipuram and Govindarajar at Gobichettipalayam. The fourth one 8212; Malaichamy 8212; had been elected to the Lok Sabha in 1999, but was denied a ticket this time.
The nomination of Dinakaran, Jayalalithaa confidante Sasikala8217;s nephew, and of Malaichamy, a retired IAS official and who projects himself as a leader of Thevars, was on expected lines.
