The AIADMK has named two former MPs T.T.V. Dinakaran and K. Malaichamy among its four candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

The other two are the party’s Namakkal District secretary S. Anbazhagan and Ammapettai Union Secretary N.R. Govindarajar. The names were announced after a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary Board today at AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa’s residence.

Thus Jayalalithaa has rewarded three partymen who had lost the recent Lok Sabha elections, Dinakaran at Periyakulam, Anbazhagan at Rasipuram and Govindarajar at Gobichettipalayam. The fourth one — Malaichamy — had been elected to the Lok Sabha in 1999, but was denied a ticket this time.

The nomination of Dinakaran, Jayalalithaa confidante Sasikala’s nephew, and of Malaichamy, a retired IAS official and who projects himself as a leader of Thevars, was on expected lines.
