Ahuja emerges shock winner

PUNE, May 9: Manoj Ahuja gave what the Pune8217;s motor race crazy crowd wanted. Though starting from behind, Manoj surprised the favourite Firdos Bhatena to win the men8217;s section title in the 1st Track MRF Go-kart race championship at the packed-to-capacity Go-Karting track at Mundwa here today.

Firos had earned the pole position by virtue of his qualifying timing and was favourite to win the most featured event of the day. However, Manoj came from behind to win the race in 35.58 seconds. Firdos finished a second later, while Zubin came third with the timing of 35.75.

Meanwhile, in the Inter-Collegiate section, Nowrosjee Wadia college student Anand Kumar won the race comfortably. Following him were Raymond Banojee of Poona College and Obaid Hakim of K C College, Mumbai.
