CHANDIGARH, Oct 14: Accountant General, Orissa combined well to topple defending champion AG Karnataka 25-18, 25-23, 28-26, 25-23, to lift title in the All India Audit and Account Inter-Zonal volleyball tournament which concluded here today at the Sector 7 Sports Complex.

Overconfidence marred Karnataka’s chances in the final today. On the other hand cool and calculating Orissa’s players put up a brilliant show and foiled Karnataka’s moves to beat their defence-line.

After losing the first set, Karnataka player pulled up their sleeves and pocketed the second set. But in the third set Orissa fought back strongly to make it 2-1.

Orissa also won the fourth set 25-23 to wrap up the contest.

Kho-kho trials
Trials to select Chandigarh team for the national kho-kho meet, will be held on October 16 at 3 p.m., at the Sports Complex in Sector 42.

DAV-10 win
DAV College Sector 10 won both their league encounters in the Panjab Univeristy Inter-College men’s kho-kho tournament today.
Results: Kho-kho: DAV-10 bt GHG Gurusar Sadhar 10-3; DAV-10 bt SDC, Hoshiarpur 13-11. Kabaddi (women): GGS-26 bt KCW, Sidhwan Khurd 108-27.

Atul Shines
Atul Mandahar with his co-driver Anil Bhambra of Chandigarh bagged second place in theGypsy King event in the Raid De Hiamalaya car rally held recently from October 7 to 10 at Shimla.

DAV-8 in semis
DAV Senior Secondary School-8 beat Manav Mangal School-21 25-6, 25-2 to enter the semifinal of the boys category in the second Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Cluster XI volleyball tournament which got underway here today at the SD Public School in Sector 32.

Host SD-32 also entered the semifinal state by beating Guru Harkishan Model School, 25-9, 25-4. In another match New Public School-18 got the better of 3 BRD Air Force 25-9, 25-12. SD School-32 and IS Dev Samaj-21 set up title clash in the girls section. SD-32 beat Manav Mangal-21, 25-0, 25-5 while Dev Samaj-21 defeated Laureate Public School 25-9, 25-15.

KVS Meet
Kendriya Vidyalaya regional sports meet (Chandigarh region) began today at KVS in Sector 47. According toa press release, competition is being held in hockey, basketball and volleyball.

The KVS national meet will be held in Delhi in November.
