CHANDIGARH, JUNE 2: As part of a week-long summer adventure camp, as many as 203 children of Army personnel got an experience of negotiating an infantry obstacle course here today.

Organised by the 9th Battalion of the Assam Regiment under the aegis of the Pine Division to promote the spirit of adventure, fun and camaraderie, the children, aged between 8 and 16 years, were also shown around the city.

Hailing from Jalandhar, Meerut, Gurdaspur and Tibri, the children are camping at Dagshai since May 31. Besides trekking, climbing and a treasure hunt in the Dagshai hills, their schedule also includes a visit to the Pinjore Gardens and the Timber Trail.

Yesterday, a visit had been organised to the Lawrence School, Sanawar, where the campers interacted with the teachers and students of the school. This was followed by a visit to an infantry unit for a weapons display. The children are being accompanied by Maj C.L. Fotedar, Capt Munesh Tamang and his wife Veena, Capt K. Mathi, Lt Y. Joshi along with two lady officers, Lt Renu Bhatia and Lt Sarita. The camp, in which children of officers, JCOs as well as other ranks are participating, will culminate on June 6.
