Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday alleged that BJP leader L K Advani had very little knowledge about the infiltration problem.

Reacting to Advani’s charge of growing infiltration, Gogoi told reporters here that as Home Minister and deputy Prime Minister in the NDA regime, he had “failed” address the problem.

Claiming that major decisions to contain infiltration as border fencing and upgradation of National Registrar of Citizen was taken by the UPA government, the chief minister alleged that the NDA had ignored the problem.

“Even our party opposed the reported plan of the then prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to give work permit to Bangladeshis”, he said.

Having a dig at former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta whose AGP party had alliance with the BJP, Gogoi alleged that gross human rights violations including killing ULFA militants was carried on with the support from the NDA government.
