MUMBAI, DEC 20: The action initiated by crime branch sleuths against Bollywood producer Nasim Rizvi will deter other film personalities from procuring finances from the underworld, deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said here today.
quot; The film personalities will now think 10 times before seeking financial assistance from the underworld, quot; Bhujbal, who also holds the home portfolio, told reporters.
The city police have seized prints of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, produced by Rizvi and attempting to stall its release, Bhujbal said.
Rizvi, a small time producer who made the film, featuring Salman Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta was arrested on December 13 for his alleged links with Karachi-based underworld don Chhota Shakeel.
Bhujbal also ruled out political pressure on the police. 8220;There is no pressure on the police force and they will continue with their job of unravelling the nexus between the section of a film industry and the mafia,8221; he added.
The issue should not be politicised, Bhujbal said.
The deputy Chief Minister said the black money pumped into the Hindi films was a matter concerning the income-tax department and it should initiate action in this connection.
