At Alwar today, Jagat Singh, the son of External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh, described Andy Sehgal as ‘‘an acquaintance.’’To know what exactly their relation is, just drive to Nalagarh Heritage Resort in Himachal Pradesh, 50 km from Chandigarh.In each room in this royal-residence-turned-resort, there is a framed photograph of Jagat Singh with Jayatendra Singh of Nalagarh, Sehgal’s brother-in-law, along with the pictures of other members of the royal family.Jayatendra’s father Vijayendra Singh and Jagat’s mother are cousins. And Vijayendra Singh’s daughter Suhani Kumari married Andy Sehgal in 1996.So that makes the two more than acquaintances.‘‘Andy Sehgal and Jagat Singh have been friends from their childhood. After Andy and Suhani’s marriage, they became relatives as well,’’ says a staff member of the resort. The staff said Jagat Singh is also a frequent visitor at the resort.The resort staff said Sehgal, his wife and their son Samar had visited the Nalagarh Heritage Resort around Dussehra. ‘‘The family stayed here for around 3-4 days, after which they went to Kasauli,’’ said another official.
