Improper parking spaces in the city colleges have become a major cause of concern for commuters these days. Students park their vehicles on the road right outside the colleges and this inconveniences the residents and commuters alike.

College authorities, meanwhile, shift the entire blame on the civic body in Chandigarh.

The maximum rush of vehicles can be seen outside DAV College in Sector 10 and SD College in Sector 32. The entire road outside these colleges is blocked with vehicles parked right in the middle of the road. So much so, that passing through these roads during the day is a huge task.

To further add to the problem, an eatery has been opened outside DAV College, which has become a hangout zone for students, further adding to the chaos.

Talking to Newsline, Professor A C Vaid, principal, SD College, Sector 32 said: 8220;We have written to the civic body a couple of times but our complaints have fallen on deaf ears. I had suggested to them that they can make the sides of the road elevated and concrete so that vehicles can be parked easily, but there has been no response from them.8221;

The road had earlier been made one-way during peak hours. The same was, however, done away with later.

A similar scene prevails outside DAV College where students park their vehicles right outside the college gate. The most harassed are the residents who say it is impossible to move through the road from morning till afternoon.
