
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DECEMBER 22: To usher in the new millennium in a sweet manner, around 2,000 people will line up to cut a giant 700 metre-long cake on January 1 in the city.
Organised as part of the Rajiv Gandhi Peace Foundation8217;s Welcome-20008242; celebrations to be held on December 31, January 1 and 2 here, Kerala Governor Sukhdev Singh Kang will lead a galaxy of 2,000 men, including State Ministers, cultural and literary figures, film stars and artistes, who will light lamps before cutting the cake at the museum premises.
The celebrations include honouring of Karnatic musician K Jyesudas, cleaning of the statues in the city, star nite, a 21-item cultural fete to symbolise the 21st century and concerts.
